Governors

The Role of the Governors

The role of the Governor is a vital one in the school and we are fortunate to have such enthusiastic and energetic Governors working on our behalf. This is particularly so since the school became self-governing, as they are totally responsible for the effective and efficient running of the school. The composition of the Governing Body changed when we became a Church of England School.

Governors are appointed from the Church, staff and parent bodies. Currently we have no parent elected governors but if you have an interest in this please contact the school.

Together, the Governors are responsible for ensuring that the school is being operated in a correct and responsible way, that money is properly accounted for and for ensuring that the school is keeping up with all the changes being imposed upon it.

Rev Mark Mulryne

I became Chair of Governors at the beginning of 2016, although I have been involved in school as a Governor since 2007.
Both of my children attended Great Clacton before they moved onto secondary school, so I have been in and out of school quite a lot over the years.  Also as a Minister at St Johns and St Marks I come into school to do assemblies and to help organise church visits.  This gives me a chance to get to know the school and the children better.
In my role as Chair of Governors, I try to do all I can to support our Head Teacher and her team of staff in all that they do for the school.  However, it is also my job to help the Governors to challenge the school to be even better.
Before becoming a Church Minister, I was a science teacher in a secondary school, and now I am enjoying being back involved with the life of a school again.

Catherine Mann

Governor since the school became C of E.
I was a teacher for 23 years in local infant schools.  I am the Governor with the responsibility for SEN and meet with the SENCO (Mrs Finney).
I also attend CARES meetings.

Pauline Solosy

I am a New Governor and am excited to serve on the Board.  I am now retired but have a background in Early Years Care and Education and am passionate about all children reaching their full potential.
